Welcome to Still Unlearning

I’m Mykala, a Brooklyn-based creative strategist, writer, and cultural researcher.
After a series of burnouts led to depression, anxiety, and isolation, I turned to writing as a form of release and a vehicle for establishing new meaning and understanding of life and the world around me. Beyond just a series of personal reflections, Still Unlearning is an exploration of identity, culture, and the invisible systems that shape our relationship to ourselves, each other, and the world.
What you can expect from this newsletter
Through each essay and story, I investigate the infrastructure of ordinary life — interrogating our inherited beliefs, emotional contradictions, and the quiet questions that live beneath who we are and what we become.
From reflections on modern womanhood and the development of selfhood to collective creativity and digital culture, I try to make sense of the tension between who we are, who we’ve been taught to be, and everything we’re unlearning in the process.
